Job Description:

Marine Technical Assurance 1 reports to Technical Operations Manager - LNG Shipping and is responsible for the assurance and operational integrity of all vessels Chartered to the Project under Project Charter Party (Contract). Marine Technical Assurance 1 performs vetting clearance and technical operations support for additional chattered tonnage required by the Project.

Qualifications

  • Excellent command of English language. Good interpersonal, written and oral communications

  • A broad background in marine engineering and vessel assurance activities with recent experience in LNG Vessel operations. Positive attitude to safety enhancement.

  • Ability to work with others and utilize internal and external resources to best effect.

  • Good analytical ability for resolving technical and business issues.

  • Skilled in the use of PC based tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support Technical Operations Manager, business case development and analysis for recommendations in respect of the Project's LNG Shipping activities and requirements.

  • Assurance for the Project Time Chartered vessels ensuring through the Vessel Operators that vessels are operated to the highest internationally recognized standards and to the requirements of Mozambique LNG, Classification Society and Flag state. Assessment and clearing third party vessels for short term or spot charter service with the Project

  • Monitoring HSSE, Process Safety, Technical and Operational performance of the vessels, developing Management Information and periodical reporting. Develop Time Charter vessels performance monitoring policies and procedures, measuring Fleet Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and drive Continues Improvement. Investigating opportunities to upgrade the Project vessels to increase their operational efficiency and reliability.

  • Work closely with Ship Owners/Operators to ensure Time Chartered vessels are continually optimized for operations efficiency and reliability. Engage with the Project chartering and operations team on vessel repairs and maintenance ensuring vessel scheduling is carried out collaboratively and optimized.

  • Liaising with Operator with particular reference to Ship/Shore compatibility and the technical integrity of the facility at the loading berths. Identifying and ensuring risks that could adversely affect the reliability of the ship-shore interface are managed effectively.

  • Perform Project vessel Assurance inspections.

  • Monitoring, analysis and trending of Project Chartered Fleet technical operations performance. Ensuring benchmarking is carried out across the Project vessels and the results are used to the advantage of the Project.

  • Providing Project representation support (Charterers representative) during ship building process, closely liaising with Shipyards, Flag state, Class and Owner/Operators.

  • A member of the LNG Shipping Emergency Support team and part of on call team responding to urgent out-of-hours vetting, port clearance and marine emergency intimations.

Education

Marine Engineer Class One Certificate of Competency, Degree in Engineering or similar together with seagoing experience in a senior position.

Relocation

This position is not eligible for relocation.

Travel Requirements

The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-30%.

Work Schedule

This position is eligible for the 5/40 work schedule.
