The Alpine oil field is a major upstream asset on the North Slope of Alaska that produces 70,000 BOPD, and processes 180 MMSCFD and 140 MBPD of Injection Water. Alpine is currently executing a multi-year development plan, including expansion activities at the only commercial drillsite developments in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPRA) at CD5 (2015 startup) and GMT1 (2018 startup). An additional NPRA drillsite in the Greater Mooseâ€™s Tooth Unit (GMT2) is in development and expected to be online in 2021. Additional funded growth projects include developmental drilling with a new built Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) rig arriving in 2020 and a substantial plant expansion in 2020. ConocoPhillips also executes an active exploration program in the Western North Slope.
ConocoPhillips Alaska is recruiting for an electrical technician position at our Alpine operations on the North Slope of Alaska. The Alpine team is seeking motivated individuals that possess leadership skills and function well in a team environment. The successful candidate will work in a journeyman role and develop/demonstrate skills and knowledge to allow for progression within the electrical position. The position will be remotely based working a 14 day on/14 day off rotation schedule at a self-contained camp that houses 400- 600 persons.
This position is responsible for performing general electrician duties which may include:
Performing maintenance duties on power generation equipment up to 13.8 KV, motors, switchgear, protective relays, breakers, UPS systems, variable speed drives, heat tracing systems, lighting, and any other facility related electrical maintenance activities
New installation of electrical equipment and cable systems in hazardous/classified areas
Functional checkout/commissioning of new equipment and facilities
Infrared thermography inspections
Proficiency using electrical test and calibration equipment
Coordinating and scheduling of electrical project work
Knowing and observing safe work practices including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, (i.e. fire-retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, safety harness, breathing apparatus, etc.)
Utilizing safe work practices and actively participating in company safety processes and programs
Working in a team environment with a wide range of personnel
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess a valid Driver's License
5 years journeyman electrician experience in industrial maintenance and installation
State of Alaska electrical journeyman's license or ability to obtain one within 6 months
Willing & able to work and live in a remote site in the Arctic, including working outside in harsh weather conditions
Able to safely perform strenuous physical activity such as lifting, bending, and climbing stairs
A demonstrated ability to actively participate in safety processes and to perform work safely
2-year trade school or equivalent technical training in the electrical field
3 years Alaska North Slope experience
Experience with petrochemical facility industrial equipment
Experience working with large industrial synchronous generators / controls, induction motors, 480V / 5KV / 15KV switchgear, solid state microprocessor based protective relays, fire / gas detection systems, and fine water mist fire suppression systems
Experience with a maintenance management system (SAP preferred)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong computing skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and Word
Ability to initiate work without direct supervision and lead a small contract workforce in daily activities
Demonstrated history of achievement, teamwork, and technical growth
