In this operational role reporting to the team leader, Human Resources (HR), you will be supporting both staff and unionized employees within our Commerce City refinery. As a valued strategic partner, you will work closely with your client groups to deliver complete HR services of varying scope and complexity.
Provide mentoring and support on all employee and labour relations matters
Provide leadership in cultivating union/management relations
Liaise with internal labour relations and legal teams
Work with various levels of leadership on investigations, progressive discipline and grievances
Provide direction on collective agreement interpretation and administration
Work independently on business challenges and provide recommended solutions
Communicate, implement and provide mentorship on all HR programs and cycles to your respective client group
Facilitate and lead a number of sessions on HR topics, including performance management, succession planning and workforce planning
Champion innovation and continuous improvement as methods to improve HR and business performance
Liaise, collaborate and contract with both our central HR function and the business to deliver effective, best practice solutions in talent management, organizational effectiveness and learning and competency
Build strong collaborative working relationships within the strategic partner community
Experience and Education:
Five or more years of proven Human Resources generalist experience
Three to four years of labor relations experience in a complex and unionized environment
University degree in a related field (e.g. human resources, industrial relations or business)
Senior professional in human resources (SPHR) certification is preferred or SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP
Skills and Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge in all HR base business activities
Strong knowledge of employment and labour law
Demonstrable knowledge in collective bargaining negotiation and arbitrations
Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, problem solving, negotiation and presentation skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, matched with the ability to negotiate and cultivate positive relationships with key partners
You will be located on-site at our Refinery Business Center in Commerce City
Occasional travel to other site locations such as downtown Denver, Cheyenne, and Wyoming
Occasionally enter the plant facility as needed
Occasional long and irregular hours may be compulsory during plant emergencies and or the cyclical nature of the workload
