Job Overview Do you want to join our dynamic and integrated team in Fort McMurray where you will be responsible for executing multiple concurrent expense and capital projects on time and on budget? Reporting to the manager of mine projects, you will also support the front end concept design and lead the execution component of the projects. Key Accountabilities Define and execute projects using a stage-gate project management model, engage stakeholders, set and manage costs and schedules, while adhering to our journey to zero safety mindset Lead multi-disciplinary expense and capital projects from inception through commissioning and handover to operations, while finding opportunities to reduce risk and cost and to improve asset reliability, safety and environmental performance Coordinate all technical design documents and drawings with internal and external technical support Run, track and report on real-time project status, including project estimating, scheduling, and risk management Perform technical reviews and evaluations of engineered drawings, reports, proposals, and equipment design and specification with integrity Manage project procurement of Suncor-supplied goods and services, working with supply chain management (SCM) and support groups Co-ordinate and liaise with internal groups including operations, maintenance, and technical; coordinate project execution with general contractors multi-functional teams Perform field reviews and site meetings during construction Required Qualifications Experience and Education: Four or more years of experience executing projects (mining and construction experience is preferred) or equivalent experience in civil or mine engineering Technical diploma or engineering degree in a relevant field such as civil or mining Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer, registration with ASET, or eligibility to register within the province of Alberta Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record Skills and Knowledge: Project engineering competency, leadership skills and strong technical capability Deep understanding of operations in mining or civil construction Validated construction project management skills and strong problem-solving ability Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and computer-aided design (CAD) You are a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional verbal and written communication skills and non-authoritative leadership ability You collaborate in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do it Working Conditions If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates Why Suncor?
