About the Role:


This is a busy time at Woodside, and we are progressing FEED on a number of major projects. We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced Structural Engineer to take a lead role on one of these projects, overseeing the delivery of structural engineering activities.


The role is a 2 year fixed term contract, based from our Perth offices.




Duties & Responsibilities:


Some of the key aspects of this role include:


  • Supporting the delivery of a technical solution for the structure that achieves an acceptable risk level whilst maximising the value of the asset
  • Managing discipline related communication between Company (Management & Technical), Contractor, Class and Joint Venture Partner technical representatives
  • Ensuring alignment of the technical solution with a robust cost and schedule for the Execute and Operate Phases
  • Ensuring Company Basis of Design requirements are addressed within the design
  • Imparting SME knowledge and understanding to the key interfaces including procurement (material rationalisation and control), fabrication (detailing, sequencing, temporary works, etc), loadout, transportation, integration (deck floatover), and operation (inspection and maintenance)
  • Identification and assurance/verification of the structural discipline’s technical risks and opportunities
  • Ensuring the project risks are fully understood and addressed during the design
  • Responsibility for management of technical change associated with the structure
  • Imparting knowledge and understanding of the Company’s standards and procedures that will impact the design
  • Sharing Lessons Learnt from Company’s existing facilities (and others) that need to be considered in the design
  • Bringing knowledge of Australian regulations and requirements to the Contractor
  • Supporting activities required to develop the Project Specification, Cost & Schedule
  • Supporting development of key project deliverables including Project Execution Plans to complete FEED scope
  • Ensuring the Company’s values with regards to Safety, Excellence, Team etc are embedded in the design and the outcome, by living out our values with the Contractor




Skills & Experience:


This is a key role, and accordingly we are looking for a highly experienced and knowledgeable individual who can demonstrate the following:


  • Large amounts of relevant working experience including 10+ years as a Principal/Lead Structural Engineer in the offshore oil and gas engineering and construction industry
  • Degree qualified in Engineering
  • Extensive SME knowledge in the key interface areas including fabrication, loadout, transportation, integration (floatover) and production
  • Extensive knowledge of Oil & Gas facilities, Engineering and Project approvals processes
  • Previous involvement on a greenfields project as part of a Client Engineering team
  • A high degree of Communication and Leadership skills to integrate with the Contractor and Company’s Project Delivery Team
  • The ability to achieve Company Technical Integrity Custodian (TIC) competency
