About the Role:

 

This role will see you responsible for providing financial accounting guidance, recommendations and support to our non-operated assets; Wheatstone, Canada and the USA. The position is responsible for ensuring the Business Units’ financial results, including budget and forecasts, adhere to the Corporate policies and guidelines, whilst ensuring compliance to country specific regulatory obligations.

The key to your success in this role, is a high attention to detail coupled with the ability to engage and communicate across all levels of the organisation and with managing external auditors.

This is a 2 year fixed term contract based in our head office in Perth, Western Australia.

 

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Month end responsibilities:

  • Provide input into the Work Day 1 flash report (revenue, production costs, inventory)
  • Provide Key Drivers analysis on monthly results as required
  • Review and approve journals prepared by Group Reporting Processing team
  • Prepare journals as required to ensure correct presentation of the Business Units’ financial statements
  • Review stock postings
  • Review Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss statements for the consolidated Business Unit as well as all Business Unit entities
  • Ensure Business Unit GL accounts and associated accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and evidenced in Blackline
  • Approve or submit all necessary documentationto demonstrate all controls are operating effectively

 

Half year and annual statutory reporting responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities as per month end responsibilities above
  • Provide input into the Left Hand Notes (LHN) including detailed analysis where required
  • Assist with impairment analysis
  • Act as the key contact for the Business Unit for the External Auditors and assist in/facilitate the resolution of External Audit queries
  • Provide tax analysis on specific items as directed/advised by Tax

 

Other responsibilities:

  • Accounting for subsidiaries at year end, including preparation of financial statements; conversion to non-Australian GAAP if required; key contact for all audit queries; obtaining multiple sign-offs; and delivery to Company Secretariat
  • Preparation of all accounting position papers for the Business Units as well as all necessary file notes to document processes and procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of half year and annual Governance Review documentation
  • Submit quarterly and annual regulatory surveys for Canada and USA
  • Complete tax workbooks for subsidiaries

 

 

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Experience in preparation of statutory financial reports
  • Sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, specifically AASB6
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Keen commitment to continuous improvement
  • Strong financial and commercial analytical skills
  • Professional qualification (ACA/CPA) or equivalent
  • Previous experience working as a professional in finance/accounting
