As an essential member of our benchmarking and opportunities team, you will lead, coordinate, participate and communicate benchmarking, opportunity identification and development initiatives for our operating assets in the Wood Buffalo region. You will use your expertise to:Lead integration between area cross-functional teams (ACFTs) and provide functional support in areas of benchmarking and performance improvement Lead full cycle complex operational and financial benchmarking studies for the Regional Operations organization (e.g. McKinsey Mine Lens, Solomon fuels study) Assemble, educate and develop teams of cross-functional subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver benchmarking inputs Provide insight to AFCTs on the outputs of benchmarking analysis, competitive positioning and recommend appropriate goals and targets Work with ACFTs on development of gap-closure plans, facilitate brainstorming sessions with SMEs, help quantify and prioritize opportunities Steward execution of gap-closure plans and progress to targets, ensure accountability and delivery of initiatives Liaise with finance on quarterly Regional leadership team (RLT) and Upstream (ULT) financial benchmarking reports Monitor the competitive environment and act as an advisor and subject matter expert on competitive intelligence Build organizational knowledge on the competitive landscape and Suncor’s positioning Provide educational presentations to operating and leadership teams on competitive developments Act as a SME in one or more areas of competitive landscape (e.g. Mining, In Situ, Upgrading) – continuously build knowledge of competitors operations, growth plans, financial and operating performance Present complex issues and potential solutions to all levels of organization (from field operations to RLT) Work independently to lead benchmarking efforts We’d like to review your application if you have… Must-haves (minimum requirements):Five years of relevant work experience, with specialized knowledge of in situ and oil sands assets and a deep understanding of the competitive landscape A Bachelor degree in Engineering or Business Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing Strong collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace Preference for:Experience leading teams in a non-authoritative capacity A network of industry contacts and strong interpersonal skills Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
